The start of July was the peak of hotness and a heavy work schedule, so not much was filmed...

July 20-21: Thunder Bay Trip

Sk8 Skates took a weekend trip down to Thunder Bay to do a demo at the park and just to have some fun. Despite the number of beers drank the first night, Jamie filmed the craziest tricks as soon as we got to the park early the next morning.

July 29-August 2: Road Rage Trip

Every year, skatelife and The Edge Skatepark put on a contest for kids that brings teams from different cities around the country all to BC. I flew with Cliff from the Edge to Vancouver, and then met up with all the crews the next day in Kamloops. The teams (coming from as far as Yellowknife) had to try to do as many tricks as they could from the manifest, a King of the Road-style book that got them points. At the end of the week, the team with the most points won TONS of prizes, and this year, it was the Winnipeg team.
This was all filmed on a VX1000 with no viewfinder, a working DVX, and each day was edited the night that it was filmed.

August 8: Gimli Skatepark

While I was gone on the BC trip, the Gimli Skatepark officially opened. So when I got back, we took a quick trip out there one day. Fortunately a good friend Jake Kuzyk was back in town at the time, so he could come along and get some footage.

August 29-30: Flin Flon Trip

We took a quick 10-hour drive up to Flin Flon for one night, to skate a little demo for the city. Despite both cars running out of gas on the highway, and little-to-no time to street skate, we found some cool spots, and filmed enough to make a short montage.

And lastly...

I decided I wanted to make a video this year, and while thinking of names driving around in my car, Jared Arnason came up with the idea of "Club Bangers" - A video made with only sweet, hit songs. A few days went by, and I came up with this promo. There's no names of people who have parts, that's because no one will know, except me. I'm not telling anyone who has footage in it, or who has parts, or what songs they will be skating to.

Hopefully there will be some kind of premiere where everyone can watch it together for the first time, but that won't be until like December.

I've been busy finishing up school and shit, but now I'm all done for atleast a year so I've got plenty of time for the whole video thing.

My VX was broken, so I hadn't been filming too much, but it's back now so the montages will be comin quick (on youtube, as always).

As for videos this year, there WILL be a Sk8Skates video, and I will also be making my own, separate video.

I've got a bunch of HD shit that I need to edit up, and I've still been filming a ton, but it's been mostly on the STREETS!

Speaking of the streets, there is a 99% chance that there will be a Sk8Skates video this year, for anyone who still reads this.

Regina Trip

Me, Skrib, JL, Guzzi, and Everett all took a trip down to Regina on Friday. We got there in the evening and skated the plaza (which, by the way, is the funnest park ever), then had quite a memorable night, which sucks because I don't remember it. On Saturday and Sunday we skated some sick street spots, the plaza some more, and the best indoor ever, with some good friends Taylor Senft and Liam Trainor. They're known as the Regina Eddy and Regina Kevin, by the way.

Here's a video I made of some of the throwaway tricks and park footage that was filmed. Thanks to Taylor for filming at the bench spot!!

So the premiere was last night, and I think it turned out pretty well. Except for the fact that half of the copies I sold didn't have audio. So if this happened to you, I have a new (working) copy for you, just try to get at me and I'll hook you up.

As for everyone else, more copies are currently being made. They'll be $10, and I'll give a few to some local shops, and always have some on me to buy as well. I'll let everyone know soon enough.

O'Doyle Rules DVDs

So here's the deal about copies at the premiere.

I don't have the time to get the video fully finished and mass amounts of dvd's made before the 22nd. However, I do have a decent printer at home, so I'm making 25 copies, with custom printed covers for each dvd. Think of this is the "first edition" of the dvd, like a holographic Charizard or something.

Each dvd will come with the video, tons of bonus, and and bunch of stickers. Who doesn't like stickers!?

After the premiere's all done and all the pressure's off, I'm gunna have a ton more copies made, but it may take a little while.

So if you see the video the night of the premiere, and think you may wanna watch it again, try to get one of the 25 limited edition copies!

Weekend In Kenora, 09

Game Of Skate Tournament

After seeing some of the Battle At The Berrics games, Colin came up with a similar idea; a tournament of games of skate of only Winnipeg skaters. From there, him and I put together a list of 32 guys we thought would be fun to watch play "skate" against each other at The Edge.

To make it easy for you all to find out who's in it, I threw this together:

If your name's in there, then this is the deal:

Your name will be put in a hat and will be picked randomly to play against another.
Once all the first games have been decided, I'll post up a chart showing who's up against who. At the same time, I'll put up the dates that this will go down. Most likely there will be four games per week, 2 on Monday, and 2 on Saturday. They'll happen during the normal Edge sessions.
If you see your date and know for sure you won't be able to make it, please let me or Colin know ahead of time. This way we'll re-arrange the table to try to make it work.
If your day comes and you don't show up, someone who isn't already enlisted, but is at The Edge at the time will take your place, and you won't get it back.

And of course, I'll be there to film it and put it up on the interwebz for everyone to watch.

I hope this works out, I'll make a post in a day or two once all the games and dates are set.

The Edge Bowl Jam

Last night, a couple people went to The Edge and had a bowl jam. Unfortunately I couldn't make it until like half way through, so there isn't much bowl footage at all.

Everyone should check out this 13 minute long full video by Jeremy Elkin. It was filmed over the last year and a half in Montreal, New York, and other North-Eastern cities.

Notable parts are Riley Boland's and Seb Labbé's. Everyone in this video skates the sickest spots, and it was filmed and edited insanely well.

Here's something I've been too lazy to make for the longest time. But today I got in a car accident, so I pretty much sat at home all day with nothing better to do.

It was filmed during the summer when my bag got stolen, and in my bag was my camera's battery charger (among other things). So this was filmed by Mikeal with my cellphone.
